How do I tell the story of my Rally?

One of the most important parts of raising money is telling your story. Your story will allow potential donors to connect with you and your cause on a personal level. The more the feel like they know you and stand for what you're rallying for the more money you will raise.

To write your description:

Story Writing Tips:

  • Who are you? Introduce yourself and your team. This is your opportunity to get potential donors to know you or your organization. This is one of the most important parts of your story. The more people can connect with you, the more likely they are to support you.
  • What are you trying to raise money for? Be specific. This is where you can description more about your cause or the person or group benefitting from the fundraiser. Describe this in detail as well, especially if the money is going to someone other than yourself.
  • Why are you raising funds? Be passionate. Explain how the money will be used. The more people know about the potential impact of their donations, the more rewarding it will be once you reach your goal.
  • How can people get involved? Make a specific ask. This is probably the hardest part of the story, but it's the most important. Specify how much you're trying to raise before Monday. Also, make sure to stress how important it is for them to share the story. Reaching your goal will be much easier if you're able to inspire each person to spread the word.

Good Story Examples

When you’re ready to wrap up your story, make sure to mention again how much the cause means to you. No amount is too small and anything is appreciated. The more comfortable the potential donors feel, the more donations you can expect.

Overall, keep your stories brief yet engaging. Your story should be honest, sincere and straight from the heart.
